District-Wide Pentecost Worship Service
June 9th at 5:00 p.m. at St. Luke UMC in Sanford Many laypersons across the Fairway District have expressed a desire for a joint worship service for our churches. Reverend Tim Russell, Assistant to Bishop Ward and Director of Ministerial Relations, will be our guest preacher. Special music will be provided by the musicians and choir of Trinity UMC, Sanford. They know how to bring it! We will gather in the St. Luke sanctuary for this time of spirited worship.

2019 Flower Calendar
The Flower Calendar will be posted in the Narthex near the end of December for anyone that would like to provide flowers for the Sanctuary during 2019. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize those who are important to you or to offer a memorial to those who are no longer with us. Remember to put your name on the Flower Calendar, fill out the order form and return it to the office with your payment at least one week prior to the date you sign up for. Thank you to those members of the congregation that provided us with the lovely flowers for the Sanctuary during 2018.

Meet our Duke Divinity School Summer Intern, Carly Bratcher!
I am a first-year student, age 22, at Duke Divinity School seeking to be an elder in the UMC. I have been called to vocational ministry since the age of twelve, so if there's anything I've learned so far it's that Holy Spiritinspired calling is sometimes the only part of the self that doesn't change. This is my first appointment in a church, and I couldn't be more excited to learn from you all this summer! Thank you for agreeing to take me under your wing. Don't they say that it takes a village? And I have much growing to do!

If you'd like my two cents, some of the best things in life are Rogers and Hammerstein-era movie musicals, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, anything written by Thomas Merton or Annie Dillard, ginkgo trees, tutus, and my Labrador retriever--Josie. I cannot wait to meet you all soon!
With love, Carly Bratcher
VOLUNTEERS, HELPERS & OUTREACH

Church Offering Counter Needed

West End United Methodist Church has a team of six people who share the responsibility of counting the Church offering on Sundays. One of our counters is retiring and we are seeking a replacement to start in February. The job includes counting and totaling cash and checks and entering the amounts into a spreadsheet. Really very easy. Two people work together and it takes only about an hour. The volunteer will work every third month. If you would like to assist our church with this ministry, please contact Judy Seldomridge at 910-690-3331.

GROUND BREAKING

We broke ground Sunday, August 26, 2018 for our new addition. This project was designed and dedicated to better serve not only our church family but also to better serve and minister to God's family and community both near and far. Visit our web page for more information.
